The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Lives were in danger in today’s episode of Emmerdale in the aftermath of April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) telling her dad everything about Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) operation.

Yesterday, Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) found Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) in the village and told him to get April to the police. He wasn’t able to confirm everything, he just said that she was in danger.

Dylan had limited time on his hands because he didn’t want to get caught out by Celia. They were outside Tenants as Celia had instructed Dylan to pick up his phone. After quickly telling Marlon, Dylan went inside the house, but was found by Celia before he could dial 999.

As Celia made the discovery that old man Ted is actually Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), Marlon was reeling in shock over April confessing that she’s been dealing drugs.

Marlon and Rhona Goskirk’s (Zoe Henry) response was to take April to the police, but the youngster then confessed that they cannot go because she murdered someone.

Today’s instalment of the ITV soap was incredibly tense. It opened with April telling Rhona and Marlon about working for Celia and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), and how the attack on Callum came about after being sold to him for sex.

Amid the horror, Marlon and Rhona reassured April and said that they would get her out of this situation.

While this was happening, Ray was having a chat with Dylan on the farm. A few hours prior, Celia told Ray that Ted is Bear, and that Dylan needs dealing with because he knows.

Ray’s chat with Dylan did not go the way he expected. The young man challenged Ray over the dynamic he has with Celia, and wondered if he’s being exploited just like the workers on the farm.

Ray was raised by Celia after she found him on the streets, which means the dangerous world he lives in is all he’s ever known. However, spending time with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and learning about the very normal life she leads has left Ray torn between two universes.

Dylan told him that if they went to the police, he could be with Laurel and start again – but Ray struggled to outright confirm if he thinks what Celia is doing is wrong.

He told Dylan that they’d go to the police and on the way, Ray continued to question the possibility of him also being a victim.

Whether Ray was really having a period of realisation wasn’t something we discovered in the episode, as he proceeded to hit Dylan with his car, and then inject him with a drug, in an attempt to silence him for good.

Watching this unfold were Marlon, April and Rhona. Celia had let herself into their house and forced them to watch the ordeal via a video call.

Marlon and Rhona were acutely aware of what they were dealing with prior to Celia’s arrival, but did not know the extent of what she is capable of. They knew that she’s a bad person, but tried to get the upper hand by threatening her with going to the police, or calling her names.

But Celia’s been in this game a while, she knows exactly what to do, and exactly when to do it. After Rhona snapped at her, Celia grabbed her by the face and pinned her against the wall. Her fingernails were digging into her skin so much, Rhona’s cheeks started to bleed.

Celia made things simple. Whenever someone crosses her, they pay the price, and this can be in a variety of different ways: houses get burned down, cars get crashed – and throats get slit.

Her visit left the trio absolutely terrified for their lives.

As Rhona panicked and Marlon attempted to conjure up some sort of plan, April was worrying about Dylan. The youngster is in hospital, but staff have told Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) to prepare for the worst.
