EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — After about two weeks away, the University of Evansville men’s basketball team knocked off in-state opponent Ball State 64-52 in their return to the Ford Center.
In a back and forth low scoring game, the lead changed 10 times between the Purple Aces and the Cardinals while they tied nine times. During the first half of play the biggest lead belonged to Ball State as they led by five points twice, but went into the half trailing 33-32. A late push in the second half secured the win for UE, as they extended the lead to as much as 12 in the closing seconds of regulation.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementPost play continues to be a strength of the Aces as they outscored the Cardinals 30-20 in points in the play. Senior, Connor Turnbull led all scores with 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his second career double-double and five blocks. AJ Casey added nine points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench. While the threes were falling for Trent Hundley and Alex Hemenway who combined for five of the six threes made by UE in the game.
Evansville men will be back in action Saturday, December 6th at Western Kentucky at 3 p.m. The game is set to air on ESPN Plus.
