MINNEAPOLIS — Indiana basketball walked off the court amidst a sea of maroon and gold on Wednesday night at Willliams arena.

Minnesota fans rushed the court as soon as the buzzer sounded on a 73-64 upset win over the No. 19 Hoosiers (7-1, 0-1 Big Ten).

Not only was it a ranked win for the Gophers, it was also snapped a nine-game losing streak in the series dating back to 2018-19 and gave the program's first-year coach Niko Medved a signature win at his alma mater after an uneven start to the season.

Indiana coach Darian DeVries, who is also in his first year with his new school, was already focused on what comes next for his team.

"I think for us, the image is we lost the game," DeVries said when asked about he told his team. "It was going to happen at some point, the main thing is now that you've lost one, is how do you respond? What in that locker room? And on the practice floor as you get ready for the next game."

The Hoosiers will just have two days of rest before taking the floor against a No. 6 Louisville team that also dropped its first game on Wednesday night with a 89-80 loss to Arkansas.

"There's a lot of really good games we're going to have this year," DeVries said. "Every night, is going to be a fight like this. We have a group that's pretty connected, got some guys that have played a lot of basketball. I expect them to come ready, respond and be ready for Saturday."

Minnesota likely won't be subject to a fine for its fans rushing the floor per the Big Ten's sportsmanship policy.

Per ESPN.com, "a discretionary fine can result on a third offense for failure to "provide adequate security for visiting teams from their arrival for a game through their departure." There is a private reprimand for a first offense; a public reprimand for second."
