Yankees Trade Idea Cuts Ties With 2-Time All-Star Infielder

The New York Yankees acquired Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins last year. He was a huge part of getting the Yankees to the World Series last year and had a great season this year.

Chisholm is one season away from free agency, and many Yankees fans want to see him in the Bronx for years to come. He was an All-Star this year and was the third Yankee in franchise history to hit at least 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a season.

Chisholm had a great season, despite missing over 30 games. He wants to stay with the Yankees, knowing he can do even more, but Yankees insider Bryan Hoch proposed the idea of trading him before free agency.

"As of right now, it seems like they're lukewarm about giving him a contract extension," Hoch said on SNY in a clip posted on X. "He's going into a walk year. This is his last year under contract. He's coming off a 31-homer, 31-stolen base season. Do the Yankees see him as their future at second base? And if not, he could probably bring a significant return right here. Is he a part of the Yankees for four to five years? DO they see his personality in the room for four to five years?"

Chisholm will not be cheap to keep around. He has proven he can be one of the best second basemen in baseball. After two seasons cut short by injuries with the Marlins, Chisholm has played in 277 games in the last two seasons. However, if the Yankees know they will be unable to get a deal done, a trade could yield them a haul.

He has an .816 OPS in a Yankees' uniform and is one of the best players on the team. He has proven he is willing to do whatever it takes to win, even switching positions for the team.
