Perhaps the biggest bright spot of the Michigan State football season was punter Ryan Eckley. The Spartans' punter was a legitimate weapon for MSU this season, and for his efforts, Eckley has been named the Eddleman-Fields Big Ten Punter of the Year along with a First-Team All-Big Ten designation.

Eckley averaged 48.5 yards per punt this season for a total of 2,378 yards with just one touchback. He had a remarkable 20 punts pinned inside the 20-yard line. Eckley isn't almost certainly going to be punting on Sundays for a long time, and we already know that the talented special teamer is forgoing his senior year to enter the NFL draft.

Eckley will be one of the best candidates MSU will have to win the elusive Ray Guy Award, an honor no Spartan has ever won despite plenty of great punters coming through East Lansing over the years.
