  • New Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy played professionally in his homeland as a defender, beginning his career with four years at SC Toulon in the French fourth tier before spells with amateur and semi-professional clubs over the next decade. He moved to Canada in August 2005 where he played for the University of Montreal's team.

  • Nancy went on to join CF Montreal as part of their Impact Academy in 2011 before being promoted to assistant coach for the first team five years later.

  • It wasn't until 2021 that he got his big managerial break. When Thierry Henry resigned as head coach of Montreal in March 2021, Nancy was promoted as the replacement. Two months later, after just seven games in charge, the club exercised the option in the Frenchman's contract for the following season. Nancy led Montreal to a Canadian Championship triumph to secure qualification for the Concacaf Champions League.

  • The 2022 campaign marked a historic regular season for Montreal as they earned their highest finish of third since entering the MLS. Nancy's Montreal became the MLS team to have earned the most away wins in a regular season (11) and set the record for most consecutive away victories (seven) as well as smashing several club records.

  • In December 2022, Nancy joined Columbus Crew as head coach and oversaw two of the best seasons in the club's history. He won the MLS Cup in his debut campaign and the Leagues Cup - a competition between Mexican and US teams - the following year as well as reaching the Concacaf Champions Cup final before being named MLS coach of the year.

  • Nancy achieved club records for regular season points, wins, goal difference (a league best at 32), away wins, goals, away goals and unique goalscorers.

  • This year the Ohio-based Crew finished seventh in Eastern Conference and 12th overall.

  • Across his managerial career at Montreal and Columbus Crew, Nancy has taken charge of 215 games, winning 109 - a ratio of 50.7% - and losing 58, with 48 draws. His sides scored 413 goals and conceded 313.
