A real football GM!

In today’s world of NIL, having a general manager to help run your program is imperative.

It’s also something Kentucky hasn’t had in either men’s basketball or football. Mark Pope’s program relies on former Georgia head coach Mark Fox as its de facto GM, while Mark Stoops’ team had Eddie Gran working in the same type of role.

Thankfully, Will Stein is making it a point to hire a real general manager for his program, not some retread assistant.

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Kentucky is targeting Oregon Ducks director of recruiting strategy Pat Biondo to become the Wildcats’ football general manager.

This would be a massive get for Kentucky, as Biondo has helped reel in top-five class after top-five class in Eugene, including the second-best class of 2026 high school recruiting class, according to 247 Sports.

Before arriving at Oregon in 2022, Biondo worked under Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M as a senior assistant of recruiting operations.
