Buffalo Bills cornerback Christian Benford has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week following a huge performance in the Bills’ 26–7 Week 13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The second-year corner delivered the most impactful game of his career, putting together a game that fueled a critical victory but also earned him AFC defensive recognition.
Against the Steelers, Benford recorded two tackles, an interception, and a 17-yard fumble return for a touchdown, the first touchdown of his NFL career. His scoop-and-score came off a strip sack by Joey Bosa on quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Benford was in perfect position to capitalize.

In man coverage, Benford also held Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf without a catch, allowing zero completions in 10 man-cover reps, per Carl Jones (tweet below). For a defense that has battled injuries, lineup changes, and young players being thrust into major roles, Benford’s game could not have come at a better time.
