One of the few cons to being a successful team in any sport is that your assistants start getting poached. That is exactly what happened to the Oregon Ducks this past week after offensive coordinator Will Stein was hired to be the next head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is also poised to become the next head coach of the California Golden Bears, but that is a bridge the Ducks will want to cross when they get to it. Luckily, Stein has made the decision to stick around in Oregon until the team finishes its run through the College Football Playoff.

Departing coaches tend to bring lower-level coaches and front office officials with them to their next destinations to begin building out their staff and organizational structure.
That is exactly what Stein is doing, with reports coming out that he’s looking to bring Ducks director of recruiting Pat Biondo to Kentucky with him to be his general manager.
These are two big blows to a school that has brought in multiple elite classes since Dan Lanning arrived four years ago. Biondo was clearly an integral piece in attracting some of the best talent around the country, and now the Ducks will likely have to hire a new man they believe is suitable for the job and hope he can live up to his predecessor.
