Recruiting Story

Michigan football had been looking for linebackers and while the top targets earlier in the cycle ended up elsewhere, Reeder was one name that kept coming up. Originally committed to Wisconsin, ultimately, Reeder pulled the trigger for the maize and blue in November.

Scouting report

Here's the scouting report from 247Sports' Allen Trieu:

• Has played MIKE, SAM and EDGE in high school but plan is MIKE in college.

• Longer frame and will be able to still hold more weight in college.

• Shows good short area quickness, burst and when he's rushing the passer, an excellent first-step off the ball. Takes good angles and closes ground quickly.

• Instinctive, doesn't take many false steps and gets going to the ball quickly. Reads and diagnoses well.

• Will take on blocks and be physical. Can also just beat pulling blockers with speed.

• Has dropped into coverage some but still can use more reps and experience there.

• Comes from a good high school program and saw good competition regularly and was productive against that competition.

• Box-checker who is athletic, big, and has great intangibles. As a result, projects as a college starter at a high-major program and will have a very good chance to play beyond college. May be able to play earlier in his career because of those qualities.
