ANNISTON — Anniston High School buzzed with energy Friday morning as the undefeated Bulldogs rolled out of town for their quarterfinal playoff trip to Deshler, leaving behind a trail of flashing lights, cheering fans and community pride.
City officials and police officers pulled away from the high school, turning an ordinary morning into a celebration of the Bulldogs’ undefeated season. The city’s public safety crews led the way in a show of support.

City leaders emphasized that Anniston police would accompany the team northward to the Tuscumbia-area high school.
Jackson Hodges, Anniston’s public relations director, said the police department and fire department were represented in full force along with the mayor to hype up the team and wish them the best of luck.
“From the flashing lights to the cheering fans, the send off was all heart,” Hodges said.
Anniston Mayor Ciara Smith said the football team was sent off with a grand display of love and support.

Smith was very optimistic the Bulldogs would win.
“We are claiming the victory and I can’t wait for the celebration that follows,” she said.
