Former Real Madrid star: ‘Kylian Mbappé ‘will win’ the Ballon d’Or next year

Ex-Real Madrid star Wesley Sneijder has this week revealed his take that it is only a matter of time before Blancos standout Kylian Mbappé lifts the Ballon d’Or.

This of course comes amid what has been a spectacular individual campaign on the part of the Frenchman to date.

Now firmly established as the ‘no1. man’ at Real Madrid, Mbappé has responded to the tune of 26 direct goal contributions in just 19 appearances this term.

And one individual in no doubt that such exploits will soon culminate in the 26-year-old being named world football’s best is the aforementioned Wesley Sneijder.

Speaking during an interview with Marca this week, Dutchman Sneijder was drawn on the form being enjoyed by Mbappé in front of goal at present.

And the one-time midfielder went on to assure:

”I maintain that with the way the scoring system works now, I’m quite sure Mbappé will win it (the Ballon d’Or) next season, 100%. Besides, he’s now become a true striker, he performs better than on the wing, and Real Madrid doesn’t need a player like Haaland. And Vini will perhaps win it the following year. They both have the quality for it.”
