By Daniella GrayShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberTwo twins from Texas have left internet users in hysterics for their efforts to reach some hidden candy.
Single mom Maegen Williams (@themaegen) had been trying to squeeze in some laundry during the Thanksgiving break.
Normally her 3-year-old twins, Nora and Brennan, would ask her for a cookie or M&Ms, but surrounded by unfolded towels, she told them to give her a minute before handing out sweet treats.
...The cookies and chocolate always sit high up on the counter, intentionally out of reach, but on this particular afternoon, the twins couldn't wait.
“I’m trying to finish folding the towels and I look up and here they are climbing on each other,” Williams told Newsweek. “Nora is directing Brennan [and] it sounded like she was trying to tell [him] to get on the floor, but I don't think he understood so she got down on the floor and directed him to stand on her.”
She aptly captioned the clip: “That’s one way to use your head!” By the time Williams realized what she was witnessing, she grabbed her phone and hit record.
While they couldn’t reach an entire cookie, the twins secured a bag of snack-size M&Ms.
“They were very proud of themselves and brought the bag to me,” Williams said. “I allowed them each to have one, and afterwards they went back to playing.
It didn’t stop there. Once they had discovered their new tactic, they repeated it—several times. “I think they were excited and proud of their new trick,” Williams laughed.
Their teamwork isn’t surprising to her, though. The twins have been inseparable since birth. Brennan spent nearly two weeks in the NICU due to fluid in his lungs, but once home, the pair bonded tightly.
As a full-time working single mom, Williams said it has always been “us three,” and the twins’ attachment to each other reflects that closeness.
“When one is sick the other has a hard time being alone at daycare or they become very concerned for the sick twin,” Williams added.
Williams shared her resourceful twins in a reel on Instagram, which has clocked up 9.7 million views. Viewers were in hysterics in the comments section.
“Team work make da dream work,” one user wrote.
“And they share the profits,” another added as the twins run off together with the goods.
A third commented, “This clearly isn’t their first rodeo and I’m here for it.”
Some asked why the twins didn’t just use a chair, which baffled Williams too. “I'm not sure what was going through their minds,” she said. “They are wild, but in the best way. They are such a blessing to see growing up.”
