The Minnesota Vikings signed quarterback Desmond Ridder to their practice squad last week after starter J.J. McCarthy landed in the NFL's concussion protocol. The Vikings were Ridder's fifth NFL team, and his second club this year after a previous stint with the Cincinnati Bengals. Minnesota released the 26-year-old QB on Tuesday.
It appears that Ridder made a decision to continue his NFL career sometime after backing out of a tryout with the Denver Broncos this spring. Broncos coach Sean Payton said at the time that Ridder was "possibly thinking about what he wants to do with his career." Ridder has apparently since accepted a QB3 fate, but he's now a free agent once again.

Denver's preparing to face the Las Vegas Raiders on the road in Week 14.
