Roma reignite interest in Federico Chiesa as Gasperini demands new winger in January

Gian Piero Gasperini is looking for additional reinforcements for the month of January.

In addition to a striker, the Roma coach has asked the club’s management to focus on brining a new winger.

Today’s edition of Il Tempo states that the Giallorossi have as a result reignited their interest in Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa.

The Italian attacker doesn’t seem inclined to leave England for the moment.

But in football, “for the moment” means little: his playing time, especially with the national team in mind, could change the balance of power in a matter of weeks.

The problem, however, remains the same: Roma can only get to him on loan, perhaps with conditions tied to a right or obligation to buy.

Heavy investments are unsustainable today. Therefore, to consider a Chiesa deal, Liverpool would need to open to a loan. Such openness, at the moment, isn’t there.
