Everything's better in Texas — some of the world's best swimmers will be heading to Austin this week for the 2025 U.S. Open swimming championships.

This competition will serve as a qualifying event for the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Beijing next summer, meaning each race will be intense. Those who win in Austin could be that much closer to representing the United States in 2026.

Many respected athletes will be returning to the pool in Austin, including Simone Manuel, Gretchen Walsh, Kate Douglass, Caeleb Dressel, Jack Alexy and Bobby Finke. It won't just be American stars competing, either. Two of the world's most dominant swimmers, Summer McIntosh of Canada and Leon Marchand of France — who both train in Austin — are also among those slated to participate.

U.S. Open swimming championships date, start time

• Date: Wednesday, Dec. 3-Saturday, Dec. 6

• Time: 9 a.m. ET (heats), 6 p.m. ET (finals)

The 2025 U.S. Open swimming championships will take place over the course of four days, from Wednesday, Dec. 3, through Saturday, Dec. 6. Heats will begin around 9 a.m. ET, and finals will begin around 6 p.m. ET each day.

The meet will take place at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas.
