Phones are good, but this is better

It doesn't get much better than the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, one of the best travel cameras you can buy at the moment. Yes, this camera has been out for a couple of years now, but it still manages to deliver impressive visuals that will outperform most, if not all phones on the market in 2025. Plus, you get 3-axis mechanical stabilization, along with a compact size, which makes it easy to pack and take anywhere.

The only problem with this device is that recent global events have caused the price of the Pocket 3 to rise dramatically, reaching up to $979, making it nearly impossible to buy for most people. Luckily, we're now seeing it come down in price by quite a bit ahead of Black Friday, with a solid drop that brings it down by $300. Sure, this technically isn't a discount, but it's the best price we've seen on this camera for some months.

It's a surprising piece of tech

Over the years, I've tried and purchased all kinds of smaller-sized cameras, but the quality was always so disappointing. It just didn't seem possible to get something that could shoot high-quality video and still remain relatively pocketable. However, the Osmo Pocket 3 changed this, delivering everything I could want and more. It would be an understatement to say that this camera blew me away with its video quality.

DJI did a great job with the design of this product, refining what was great about previous models and making it even better. The most notable change with the Pocket 3 is the 2-inch swivel screen. While it can be used vertically, it can also swivel to a horizontal orientation as well. The best part about this is that you can also set it, so the camera turns on when you swivel the screen, so you're always ready to shoot.

And if it wasn't evident, the camera quality is just so good. I enjoy shooting with a phone, but with a dedicated product like this, it's hard to reach for my phone when I'm really looking to capture events or special occasions. Plus, you get impressive battery life, fast charging, and loads of space since it uses a microSD card. While you can control everything from the device, you can also use your phone to control it remotely as well.

It's easy to forget just how good dedicated cameras are

Sure, the best camera is the one you have on you. And that's normally going to be your phone, but once the Pocket 3 is in your pocket, you'll never leave home without it. I've owned mine since the day it came out, and it goes with me pretty much everywhere. Even if I'm not quite sure whether I'll be shooting something, I'll just pop it into a small bag or throw it in a coat pocket and take it with me.

Again, the price isn't exactly a discount, but this is the first time we've seen it fall to $679 in some months. If you've been thinking about buying one, now's going to be a good time to do it. Of course, if that price is a little too much, there are alternatives. You can always grab the recently released Xtra Muse, which looks to be a near identical, if not duplicate product.

DJI has not confirmed that it is the one producing the Muse, but reviewers have gotten their hands on it, and everything, from the hardware to the software, functions exactly the same. Even most of the DJI accessories will work with this model — except for the DJI microphones. It's just another option if you're not looking to spend $679.

But, if you're someone that's been eyeing the Pocket 3 for some time and has been itching to get it into your collection, now's going to be an excellent time to pick one up. This bundle comes with the camera, battery grip, tripod, and wireless microphone. It's everything you need to get started.

If you're someone that loves taking videos on the go, then this camera is for you. The Osmo Pocket 3 delivers impressive video quality and comes with 3-axis stabilization. Recent changes to importation guidelines increased the price to $979 for this combo, but it can now be had for $679.
