While the transfer portal won't open officially until January 2, with the regular season now over, several players across college football are announcing their intentions to enter the portal so that they can start working to find their new team. And the Wolverines have seen their first entry into the portal as of Tuesday.

A three-star as a recruit, offensive tackle Connor Jones never quite saw time as he perhaps expected in Ann Arbor, and with several top players having come in at his position, although younger, he's somewhat been edged out. According to 247Sports' Chris Hummer, Jones is Michigan football's first entry into the portal this offseason.

As noted, Jones played 10 games on special teams, and he has one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination.

With Jones gone, the Wolverines will rely on both of this year's starters, Andrew Sprague and Blake Frazier, as well as some of the other young talent on the team, such as Andrew Babalola (who suffered a season-ending injury in fall camp) and Ty Haywood.
