Bringing back Kyle Schwarber remains a top priority for the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason, but they understandably aren’t the only team interested in adding the National League MVP finalist from the 2025 season.
Schwarber is coming off a season where he registered a .928 OPS, making him a fit in just about any lineup in MLB. Now, Philly might have even more competition in the Schwarber sweepstakes, with a new team reportedly emerging as a potential suitor for the superstar.

“I do think Schwwarber is one of the players the Giants are watching most carefully,” said Morosi. “I was told that they've actually already inquired in Kyle Schwarber's market. Very interesting. Maybe they're not a team that we were hearing about as much with respect to where Schwarber might wind up, but you can see the reason,” explained Morosi.
What exactly could draw Schwarber to leave the East Coast to head out West? Well, Morosi made an interesting point about Buster Posey's influence as the Giants’ head of decision-making, and about him and Schwarber possibly seeing eye to eye on things.

It might all come down to what Schwarber is looking for in free agency. At this point in his career, does the 32-year-old value one more big payday coming off another 50+ home run season, or does he still want to win another World Series before calling it a career?
Luckily for Philadelphia, it could probably give Schwarber a little bit of both. The Phillies need to make more moves this winter, bt are definitely closer to being a championship-contending team than the Giants are. They could also dish out quite a bit of money to make sure Schwarber is back on the roster for next season.
