Texas flips 4-star safety Toray Davis from UCLA

Boulder (Colo.) Fairview four-star safety Toray Davis has flipped his commitment from UCLA to Texas, giving the Longhorns another big late recruiting win ahead of National Signing Day.

Davis was committed to the Bruins since June 28 and had stuck with the Big Ten program after it fired head coach DeShaun Foster. UCLA is bringing in Bob Chesney and Davis is now headed to Austin after he visited at the end of November.

Davis is the No. 372 overall prospect and No. 33 safety in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 4 recruit in Colorado.

Rivals ranks him higher than other recruiting services. In the Rivals300 update last month, Davis checked in as the No. 150 prospect and No. 13 safety.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder joins a Texas class that ranks inside the top 10 of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He’s the third listed blue-chip defensive back in the mix for the Longhorns, flanking four-star cornerbacks Samari Matthews and Hayward Howard Jr.
