A day after inking a rest-of-season contract with Stephen Curry’s younger brother, Seth, the Dubs officially signed a 24-year-old G-League superstar to a two-way deal (the Dubs added Cryer to the fold.

“The Warriors have signed guard LJ Cryer to a two-way contract,” the organization announced Tuesday.

“Cryer has appeared in seven games for the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, averaging 24.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 34.0 minutes per game.”

“He originally signed with the Warriors on September 29 before being waived on October 18. The guard appeared in five preseason games, averaging 5.0 points, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game. Cryer will wear #18 for the Warriors.”

Cryer is an intriguing young player. While undersized at the point guard position (6-foot), the Houston product has the shot-creating and distribution chops necessary to stand out as a shorter backcourt contributor (especially in ball-screen situations).

Cryer can also play off the ball and maximize his catch-and-shoot opportunities on the perimeter (he was a 42.4% three-point shooter during his senior season with the Cougars.

Cryer, who’s been lights out with Santa Cruz in the G-League this season and exhibited promise with the Dubs in the preseason, has the potential to carve out a lengthy career for himself.
