After beating stage 3 lymphoma, Full House star Dave Coulier just revealed another cancer diagnosis. The comedian opened up in November 2024 about being diagnosed the previous month with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Throughout his chemotherapy treatments, Coulier gave health updates to the public as a way to help others in his situation.

Now Coulier is dealing with a "totally unrelated" cancer diagnosis: P16 squamous carcinoma, which affects the neck and head. He revealed the news during an interview on Today, explaining that during a checkup last month, his PET scan revealed a concerning development. "It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue," he announced.

This particular type of cancer did not emerge from his lymphoma diagnosis, but he's been undergoing several rounds of radiation, with his 35th and final round set for December 31.

Totally unrelated to the previous cancer that I had. So in October of this year, I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up and something flared on the PET scan. It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue. So I said to the doctors, I said, ‘Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?’ And they said, ‘Totally unrelated.’

Fortunately, the prognosis is "very good" for his latest health setback. According to Coulier, doctors have told him that the curability rate is over 90%. What helped him was early detection, which "saved my life" for both diagnoses.

Prognosis is very good for P16 squamous carcinoma. So it has a 90+ curability rate. But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. So I hope you’re getting your check-ups. I hope your colonoscopies and breast exams and prostate exams, they will save your life.

While trying to improve his lifestyle, Coulier launched AwearMarket, an online marketplace that sells toxin-free products.

The Full House alum has lost multiple family members to cancer, including his mother, sister and niece, so he's trying to do everything he can to make sure he's as healthy as possible, despite the obstacles he's been facing.

The journey to beating cancer the first time around wasn't easy, of course. Coulier admitted he's had to have some vulnerable and tough conversations with his wife, Melissa, about their future.

For example, after his fifth round of chemotherapy, he wasn't sure if he could keep going. Fortunately, he did keep going and revealed in March 2025 that he was cancer-free.

Now, eight months later, Coulier is back in a position he's all too familiar with. As he told Craig Melvin on Today, though, the prognosis is "very good," which is helping him keep a positive mindset this time around.

Coulier is best known for playing Joey Gladstone on Full House, the hit sitcom from the late '80s and early '90s that also starred Bob Saget, John Stamos, Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Lori Loughlin and Andrea Barber.

Coulier's character, Joey, was best friends with Danny Tanner, who lost his wife and leaned on Joey and Jesse Katsopolis as he tried raising three children. They all lived under the same roof in San Francisco, with Full House featuring one of the most iconic TV homes.

Coulier returned in a recurring capacity for the 2016-2020 sequel series Fuller House with original cast members Cameron Bure, Sweetin and Barber in lead roles as their characters raised their own children. Stamos, Saget and Loughlin also had recurring roles.

Even though Full House has been off the air for 35 years and Fuller House ended five years ago, many of the cast members still keep in touch with each other and have leaned on each other for support through tragedy, including the death of Saget in 2022 and Coulier's 2024 cancer diagnosis.

There's no doubt they will be there for their Full House co-star amid his squamous carcinoma diagnosis.
