The terror of A Quiet Place is creeping into the Midwest. With the upcoming release of A Quiet Place: Storm Warning, fans now get an early glimpse at this new chapter in the franchise. You can check out the preview below.
Phil Hester and Ryan Kelly’s upcoming March 11, 2026 release of A Quiet Place: Storm Warning marks the next installment in the fan-favorite, horror-filled franchise. This new chapter takes fans from the previously explored New York and rural Upstate New York settings to the small Midwestern island town of Pearl, Iowa.
The story emphasizes the challenges of surviving the sound-sensitive creatures in a rural, river-surrounded town during flood season. In addition to a new setting, the story will be unique in how it explores how a tight-knit, insular community reacts under extreme stress, examining themes of unity, fear, and human behavior under unprecedented threats.
A Quiet Place: Storm Warning Puts a Unique Twist on Hollywood’s Best Horror Franchise

Another unique aspect of the comic that will undoubtedly pique fans’ interest is how A Quiet Place: Storm Warning amplifies the danger its characters face. They aren’t just dealing with deadly, sound-seeking creatures, but also the threat of a natural disaster (i.e., flooding) creating a true double-threat scenario. This layered danger raises the stakes and deepens the tension in this latest story.
Playing into the American Heartland setting, writer Phil Hester explained in an exclusive interview with EW how environmental sounds, such as those produced by a river dredge, will be central to both the plot and the tension. Hester noted, “We see the operation of a river dredge, which is a boat designed to scoop out silt to keep waterways clear for commercial traffic.”
He went on to tease, “There's a character, Lonnie, in this story that uses a river dredge in his battle with the creatures, and the cacophony of sounds that come from operating a ship like that both provide him some cover, but also they’re like a signal flare maybe to the creatures.” It’s clear Hester is fully embracing the Midwestern setting for this chapter of A Quiet Place.
Silent Storytelling: How a Franchise Reliant on Sound Was Adapted for Comics
Another area that makes this installment of A Quiet Place exceptionally unique is its emphasis on "silent storytelling." IDW Dark editor Heather Antos touched on the creative challenge: adapting A Quiet Place meant convincing Paramount that the concept could work as a "silent comic," despite sound being a core element of the franchise.
To combat this challenge, the creative team takes a unique approach where sound is represented graphically, varying in size and intensity depending on volume. Hester elaborated, "You see the sounds when they're supposed to happen. If they're a big sound, they're a big sound effect. If they're a little sound, they're tiny." Hence, it’s clear that A Quiet Place fans will be in for a unique and can’t miss experience.
