We have yet another injury update on Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, but this time it comes from the man himself.

Of course, St. Brown suffered a low-ankle sprain in the Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers that forced him out of the contest early.

On Tuesday, St. Brown spoke to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com and said his ankle is getting better everyday, but his status remains up in the air.

"Just talked to Amon-Ra St. Brown and he said it’s still up in air if he’s able to play Thursday vs. Dallas. The ankle is getting better but him playing will depend on if he feels he can stop and cut like he needs to. He said every day ankle has gotten better. Will hopefully take to Thursday before deciding," Twentyman wrote.

While there is still at least some semblance of optimism for St. Brown's chances of playing this week, he did not take part in practice on Monday or Tuesday.

However, St. Brown is the type of experienced vet who can play without practicing at all, so that's certainly important to point out.

St. Brown was fortunate to avoid a high-ankle sprain, which is typically a multi-week injury. A low-ankle sprain means he'll miss minimal time, if any at all.

If anyone can overcome this kind of injury and not miss time, it's St. Brown, who is next-level tough and has played through injuries before.

The Lions certainly need him, as he's their No. 1 wide receiver and the offense just won't operate the same without him.

That's a major problem because the Lions are fighting for their playoff lives, with the team sitting in third place in the NFC North and in the No. 8 spot in the conference.

The Lions will drop their final injury report of the week on Wednesday.

Any semblance of practice participation would be a good sign he has a chance to play, but we would anticipate St. Brown sitting out on Wednesday, also, before drawing a questionable tag.
