The first two films have grossed over $5 billion, both of which surpassed over $2 billion, with "Avatar" bringing in $2.92 at the end of its theatrical run.

With Cameron being open about the films needing to make money to pay for the next one, the third chapter might also need to cross the $2 billion mark. That said, the first reactions for "Avatar: Fire and Ash" could be pointing to another mega blockbuster for the franchise.

"AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH is a visual feast that somehow outdoes everything that came before it. The story takes bold swings, lands surprises you’d never expect, and proves James Cameron is still operating on a different level. Hard to believe, but it’s the best of the trilogy so far."

#AvatarFireAndAsh: James Cameron may just create the best villain of the year . This Ash lady is bad ass crazy. all the scenes she is in are my favorite including some amazing actions sequences. The movie is long but the ending is satisfying. All the battle scenes are visually stunning and well written. Seeing creatures getting hurt and killed is really heartbreaking. The emotion stake is high."

"even if it's a slight step down from its predecessor, avatar: fire and ash is nothing short of incredible. the angriest, darkest, and most emotionally charged entry in the series so far. stephen lang's quaritch is an absolutely legendary villain. never doubt big jim cameron."

TheHoloFiles gave "Avatar: Fire and Ash" a rave review, by saying:
"AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH is a monumental cinematic achievement. Astonishing, boundary-pushing visuals are accompanied by an enthralling narrative filled with poignant commentary and genuinely moving character work. By far, the best Avatar movie. Epic. Ambitious. Heartfelt. A must see."

"#AvatarFireandAsh is a great time! Visually stunning, action packed, and filled with tons of excellent character development. It feels more The Way of Water 2.0 than “Fire and Ash” and has a lot of story to balance, but I walked away with a smile. Full review on 12/16! #Avatar."
A good majority of the early reviews and first reactions call the latest film in the "Avatar" franchise the best yet. However, there are those who claim that it is a bit in line with the previous two films.
Simply put, it sounds as though fans of the "Avatar" franchise will be plenty happy with the third film. Though it is another three-hour affair, the emotional stakes appear to be the biggest plus for the new chapter, according to the first reactions.
