The New York Mets are coming off a very disappointing season, but they're seemingly preparing to turn their franchise around in the offseason.

This week, the Mets reportedly agreed to a deal with New York Yankees closer Devin Williams. Williams is a huge addition to the bullpen, but the Mets need to continue adding to their roster if they want to avoid the disappointment of missing the postseason again next year.

Andrew Tredinnick of NorthJersey.com recently predicted the Mets would re-sign slugger Pete Alonso in free agency after adding Williams. Alonso is projected to sign for $182 million this winter, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

"Opened up long-term financial flexibility by dealing Brandon Nimmo to ink their cornerstone piece for a few more years," Tredinnick wrote.

Re-signing Alonso should be the Mets' next priority. They need to add to the starting rotation, too, but Alonso's power is hard to replace.

Alonso is a fan favorite in Queens. He provides the team with a lot of pop behind Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, which forms one of the best lineups in baseball when everybody is firing on all cylinders.

It's bound to be an expensive move, but the Mets have the money it would take to bring this kind of deal to fruition. New York would still need to add some talent to its pitching staff, but re-signing Alonso should be the front office's top priority right now.
