The big fashion finale of 2025 took place last night at the Royal Albert Hall, lighting up London’s gloomy streets with sparkling gowns and famous faces. The annual Fashion Awards drew a crowd that included Kylie Minogue, Skepta, Alex Consani, Kim Cattrall, Cate Blanchett, Sharon Stone and FKA Twigs, to name a few.
While the Met Gala is hosted on the first Monday in May, London’s Fashion Awards take place every year on the first Monday in December – which might explain why it rains every year. Breaking away from tradition, this year’s ceremony was hosted by a Burberry-clad Colman Domingo, and was the first to take place under the British Fashion Council’s new CEO, Laura Weir. Between the awards, guests (ranging from international press to reality TV stars and British fashion royalty) were treated to performances from Raye, Tems and the English National Ballet.
As for the awards themselves, Dior’s leading man Jonathan Anderson scored a hat-trick by taking home Designer of the Year for a third time in a row, while Givenchy’s Sarah Burton was awarded British Womenswear Designer of the Year and Grace Wales Bonner (the newly appointed creative director of Hermès menswear) was honoured with British Menswear Designer of the Year. Dilara Findikoglu picked up the Vanguard award, Anok Yai won Model of the Year, Little Simz took home the first Cultural Innovator Award and stylist Sam Woolf was celebrated for his work with Doechii.
Elsewhere, Fashion East continued to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special award given to founders Lulu Kennedy and Raphaelle Moore. Meanwhile, the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator was given to Rei Kawakubo, Adrian Joffe and Dickon Bowden for Dover Street Market.
On the drizzly carpet, there was not one but two pregnancy reveals (Sienna Miller and Ellie Goulding clearly took notes from Rihanna’s Met Gala moment), multiple larger-than-life blonde blow-outs courtesy of Gwendoline Christie and Lisa Rinna, plus an uncensored Duran Lantink JPG naked suit, as worn by Lyas.
