Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.Nicholas Hoult is set to reunite with Tony McNamara, the creator of Hulu's The Great, for a new Hulu original (and Disney+) TV series titled Mosquito. Described as a "dark, wry comedy," the forthcoming series will be part of Disney+'s UK original slate and will stream internationally via the two platforms, which are set to fully merge soon.
Deadline reported today that McNamara's new show has received a six-episode straight-to-series order, with Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones attached to star. Moqsuito will be "a sardonic look at a young couple's relationship [...] [centering] on Kate (Edgar-Jones) and Ed (Hoult), [...] whose secrets begin to reveal as daily life chips away at the personas they present… all started by an intrusive mosquito."
While he has been an established actor for much longer, through movies including Mad Max: Fury Road, Hoult has been on a recent winning streak, starring in Robert Eggers' Nosferatu and breathing new life into the character of Lex Luthor in James Gunn's Superman. Before both movies, he starred in McNamara's The Great as Peter opposite Elle Fanning as Catherine.

The three-season show won two Emmys, both for costuming, but also received nominations for Hoult and Fanning's performances as well as for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. McNamara is also an Oscar-nominated writer for 2018's The Favourite and 2023's Poor Things, both starring Emma Stone and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
