Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have been feeling a bit dismayed lately after the recent release of the Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster, thinking that the RDR2 remaster has been completely abandoned. While Rockstar has not announced an official RDR2 remaster in the same vein as the first one, an industry insider claims it's definitely happening.
Nate the Hate (via X) has reiterated that the Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen upgrade is still happening, and that Red Dead Redemption 1's next-gen release doesn't change the fact RDR2 is on the way. The comment was in reply to a fan who argued NateTheHate2's insider sources were unreliable.
Nate the Hate originally hinted that a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen update was in the works during a podcast earlier this year (via YouTube and Reddit). No official confirmation of an RDR2 upgrade from Rockstar has been announced as of this writing.
Red Dead Redemption 2's Next-Gen Update Is Real, Apparently
NateTheHate has become a somewhat reliable source for gaming industry leaks over the years, and with rumors swirling that the Red Dead Redemption 2 remake leak wasn't true, he offered a clarifying comment that suggests it is almost certainly happening.
Fans were worried that the RDR2 leak could have been mistaken for the release of the RDR1 upgrade, which launches today for free on Xbox and PlayStation. Leaks for popular IPs like Red Dead Redemption are often extremely unreliable as well, and could always end up being inaccurate.
It turns out that Red Dead fans are getting the best of both worlds, and it's not a zero-sum game when it comes to RDR next-gen upgrades. While it isn't clear what the specific timeline will be for Red Dead Redemption 2's next-gen upgrade launch, it likely won't be announced so close to the original.
The OG Red Dead Redemption Just Got A Big Upgrade
The original Red Dead Redemption just got a massive free upgrade for modern consoles, giving players a completely overhauled remaster of one of the greatest western games ever made. It's a great time to pick up the original RDR, especially if you never played it before RDR2 or haven't played since it first released so many years ago.
Overall, it's an exciting time for Red Dead Redemption fans, with massive upgrades to the original that will surely keep them busy until an announcement for an upgrade to Red Dead Redemption 2 is announced, not to mention the potential for a Red Dead Redemption 3 announcement at some point next year.
