LINESVILLE — The Conneaut girls basketball team took on Maplewood at home on Monday night. The Eagles began their season with a 45-35 win over the Tigers.

For Conneaut, Abby Potts lead the scoring effort with 14 points on the night. Three players were tied with eight points for the Eagles, Courtney Perrye, Lily Detelich and BreAnne Dendis, Averi Wolf and Micky Bernhardt join in with five and two points respectively.

Maggie Means led the way for Maplewood with 16 points. Joining Means with double digits was Lilly Stevenson with 10. Jillian Mattocks scored five and Grace Snyder added 4.

Conneaut continues its season at 1-0 as the Eagles host Sharpsville Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

Maplewood drops to 1-1 on the year and will take part in the Meadville Tip Off Tournament this weekend.

Cochranton drops season opener

NEW WILMINGTON — The Cochranton girls basketball team traveled to face Wilmington Monday night. The Cardinals dropped their first game of the season 54-34.

The Cardinals leading scorer was Claire McCartney with seven. Lexi Irwin followed her with six on the game. Karmyn Reese and Addi Custead both scored five. Hannah Lyons put up three and Jaidin Frayer and McKenna Mase both had three.

Cochranton starts the year 0-1 and travels to Moniteau on Wednesday.
