I'm still rocking a four-year-old Galaxy S21, and one of the reasons I'm still holding onto the Galaxy ecosystem is Samsung Wallet.
Samsung Wallet isn't perfect, as I still need to rely on its rivals like Google Wallet for specific tasks, but no other app can make my life as easy as Samsung's wallet app does.
In addition to a smooth payment system, there are many other aspects to love about Samsung Wallet. I love some of them more than Samsung Wallet's payment features because of their convenience that no other can match.
The ability to store important IDs tops them all. All my government IDs live in Samsung Wallet, so there is no more fear of leaving them at home.
There is more to why I love storing my IDs in Samsung Wallet. Here are five everyday tasks that have become simpler now that my ID lives on Samsung Wallet.

It's in everyone's best interest to abide by the laws, but there may be situations where you need to produce your ID to prove your identity.
I haven't gotten into anything nasty yet, but there have been multiple instances where I had to produce my driver's license at traffic stops and checks.
This is something I often face because I travel a lot, and the best part is that it takes way less time to show my driving license on Samsung Wallet than finding and taking it out of a physical wallet.
I don't waste my time swiping left or right cluelessly to find my driver's license. Instead, I swipe down, spot the ID, and show it quickly.
I also use the swipe-up gesture from the bottom of the screen to open the Samsung Wallet app quickly.
This way, I don't even have to unlock my phone to show my driving license. These tricks work with all other IDs that you store in Samsung Wallet, and not just a driving license.
More than a driver's license, I show a valid photo ID to collect items from the delivery person. I also use Samsung Wallet to show my ID when collecting a package held at a post office.
These are the three instances where I use my ID the most, and Samsung Wallet makes it simple for me to show them.

Samsung Wallet not only helps when you step out of your home without carrying a wallet, but it also comes in handy when you are sitting at home.
Instead of reaching into my wallet to find my ID, I open Samsung Wallet when I need to provide my ID number when filling out a form.
No, I don't type the ID number after opening it on Samsung Wallet, because it offers a simple yet smarter way to do it.
I open Samsung Wallet and tap the ID. Doing so shows my ID number alongside the option to copy it.
This isn't limited to a driving license or any specific ID. You can quickly copy and paste any ID number this way, which is better than typing a long ID number and then verifying it to confirm if you've typed correctly.
I can't remember the last time I manually typed it on my keyboard, because Samsung Wallet doesn't need me to.
However, one thing that I always remain careful about is what ID goes where.
To make sure I paste the right one at the right place, I copy and paste one ID number at a time instead of copying them in bulk and then pasting them.
Avoid sharing all my personal details

A physical copy of your ID card contains all the information needed to display. However, that doesn't automatically mean authorities need to check all of them for verification.
I check in at hotels and share a masked ID number with them (only the last four digits are visible). I feel more secure because selective disclosure keeps me from sharing unnecessary personal details.
Sharing is also easy on Samsung Wallet. When you open it, you'll find the share option in the upper-right corner. You can tap it to share your ID securely with anyone in any app.
I can get a digital copy of my ID with partial details from government websites, but it's so much easier in Samsung Wallet because it only takes a couple of taps.
Not handing over the physical ID to strangers

I don't mind handing over my physical ID when necessary, such as to law enforcement agencies and certain hotels for check-ins.
However, I can't put the same level of trust in someone I can't easily trace if my ID is misused. That's precisely why I rarely hand over my physical ID to anyone, except government officials.
If you send them a PDF file of your ID, you can ask them to delete it from their system in your presence if they aren't legally bound to keep it.
I always ask this during hotel check-ins, and if it isn't legally binding, I use my Galaxy handset to prove my identity.
Samsung Wallet eliminates the risk of a bad actor stealing my personal information behind my back, because my phone stays with me, and so does my ID.
No fear of losing my physical ID

The biggest advantage of storing your ID in Samsung Wallet is that you don't always need to carry a physical ID. It not only eliminates the fear of a stranger misusing it, but also mitigates the risk of you losing it.
When you keep your ID in your physical wallet, there is also a high risk of getting it damaged over time. ID covers can solve this problem, but that can also make your wallet bulkier.
Worse of all, there is always a chance you'll lose your wallet, and in that case, you lose all your important IDs with it. Whereas, if I lose my Galaxy handset, all that I need to do is erase my phone data.
With Samsung Wallet, the risk is minimal, but the reward is maximum.
Samsung Wallet can help even when a physical copy of your ID is needed
All my IDs live on Samsung Wallet, not merely because I get the easy option of showing them on my phone. It can also help me produce a physical copy if needed.
The way I do it is by downloading my ID onto my phone and taking a print of it whenever I need to produce it. I always keep a copy of my ID on my phone, so I don't have to rely on the internet every time I need to produce a physical copy.
You can show your ID using Samsung Wallet on your Galaxy phone, but downloading requires an internet connection.
If you're headed to a new place, check with the authorities and confirm if a digital ID is accepted.
I don't always remember to do it, but I never regretted it once after leaving my physical wallet at home after switching to Samsung Wallet.
