A new Helldivers 2 patch is here, rolling out a number of balance changes as well as bug fixes, and I'm sure those newly detected "strange signals" are nothing for Super Earth's finest to be concerned about. …Right?
Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust version 5.0.0 rolled out today, with the patch notes confirming buffs for a number of weapons, including the P-2 Peacemaker, SMG-37 Defender, and M6C/SOCOM Pistol. In addition, the Stalker enemy has been nerfed, as Arrowhead has decreased the force strength (which it explains as "the value that decides if a player or enemy should stagger or ragdoll") of the Terminid "when a tongue attack hits the player." War Striders and Bile Spewers have seen their force strength reduced when hit with grenade or artillery explosions, respectively.

"Remember me!" from r/Helldivers
On top of the obvious changes, the patch notes also include a teaser – or a threat, depending on how you want to look at it – of something to come. "Super Earth has detected strange signals from previously unmonitored worlds on the Galactic map," the patch notes read. "The Ministry of Intelligence is investigating the source of the signals. Helldivers, be vigilant and hold the high ground."
Some already expect that "something bad's about to happen," with one speculating that Arrowhead might be "pre-loading new squid content." Meanwhile, another says, "Strange signals, you say? I'm sure it's totally normal and nothing to worry about!"
Interestingly, this comes on the back of recent theories that a new faction or sub-faction could be on the way, be that a faction of rebels or Illuminate allies. We'll just have to wait and see if this is related.
After months of anticipation, Helldivers 2 fan film gets suddenly removed from YouTube, but it wasn't Sony even though an official movie is in the works: "I am chatting with YouTube right now."
