Indianapolis Colts kicker Michael Badgley missed a crucial extra point attempt on Sunday in the team's loss to Houston.
That miss proved to be costly with the Colts down by four late in the game. However, instead of kicking the game-tying field goal attempt from the Houston 31-yard line, Indianapolis instead had to go for it on 4th-and-9.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAs we said previously, the Colts didn't lose this game solely because of the missed extra point. There are a lot of reasons for that.
But Badgley has now missed three extra point attempts on the season. Over the Colts' last three games, he's missed two extra point kicks and a field goal.
“Badge knows he’s gotta make the PATs," Shane Steichen said on Monday. "
But I love Badge. I love Badge the player. I love Badge the person. And we’ll see where it goes. But whoever’s out there kicking for us, we got a ton of faith in whoever it is. And Badge he's done a hell of a job for us. He made big-time kicks for us, but obviously we gotta make the PATs there."
When Steichen was asked if the team would bring in tryouts at kicker, he was noncommittal and deferred to general manager Chris Ballard.

The added challenge to this for the Colts is that when it comes to exploring other kickers, options are limited during this time of the year.
With that said, this may be a now-or-never moment for Badgley. Either more consistency is needed or the Colts may have no choice but to look elsewhere.
