Packers WR Jayden Reed on when he'll return: 'Hopefully, it's soon'

Green Bay Packers receiver Jayden Reed is already ruled out for Sunday's showdown with the Minnesota Vikings, but he's hopeful he'll be back for a game soon -- even if he wasn't willing to share a target date.

"I don't know when I'll be back. Hopefully, it's soon," Reed said after practice Friday.

The Packers designated Reed for return from injured reserve on Friday, and he was a limited participant at practice to end the week. Reed won't be eligible to play until he's activated to the 53-man roster, and the Packers officially ruled him out for Sunday on the final Week 12 injury report released Friday.

Reed, the team's leading receiver in 2023 and 2024, went on injured reserve after breaking his collarbone in Week 2. The time off afforded by the collarbone injury allowed him to get his injured foot surgically repaired, which Reed admitted was a blessing in disguise.

Reed said he found out he would be back at practice on Thursday after scans on his injuries proved he was ready for football activities.

The next step is getting ready to play in a game. It won't happen Sunday, which is understandable after getting in only one practice this week, but the Packers have a quick turnaround before playing the Detroit Lions next Thursday, so it's possible Reed will be back sooner rather than later.

"I've been running for a while, for a weeks now, so I don't think conditioning standpoint is a problem or anything like that," Reed said. "Definitely helps getting team reps, but I'm on Year 3 so there's really no excuses. Me being a leader, I have to be prepared for whatever."
