The Arizona Cardinals navigated yet another game without running back Trey Benson in Week 13, as the second-year rusher was ruled out once again.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBenson has been on injured reserve since Week 5 after he suffered a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery in Week 4.
Benson was cleared to practice a few weeks back, but he also took a step back in his practice participation last week.
Here's what we know about his chances of suiting up in Week 14.
Will Trey Benson return in Week 14?
We would say Benson has a less than 50% chance to play in Week 14.
That's because Benson was downgraded from a limited participant in practice last week to a non-participant on Thursday and Friday.
That would seem to suggest Benson suffered a setback, although that hasn't been confirmed.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHead coach Jonathan Gannon was asked if Benson suffered a setback, but he would not say that was the case and simply stated that Arizona continues to take it day by day with the running back.
"Gannon won’t use that term (setback). Continues to say Benson is evaluated day by day. Since he’s already on IR, next big step is next week. Deadline to put him on roster approaches," Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com wrote.
Trey Benson return timeline
Since he was designated to return from injured reserve, the Cardinals have 21 days to activate Benson off the list or else he has to miss the remainder of the season. Arizona's deadline falls on Dec. 10.
