The Arizona Cardinals did something on Sunday they had not done since moving to Arizona. With their 20-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, dropping them to 3-9 on the season, they were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 13.
It was their earliest elimination from contention since 1986, when the Cardinals were still playing in St. Louis and finished 4-11-1.

However, they weren't the only team to be mathematically eliminated from contention.
Cardinals, others eliminated from postseason contention
In all, five teams have been eliminated.
In the NFC:
Arizona Cardinals, 3-9
New Orleans Saints, 2-10
New York Giants, 2-11
In the AFC:
Las Vegas Raiders, 2-10
Tennessee Titans, 1-11 (their only win is over the Cardinals)
Other teams eliminated from division contention
A handful of struggling teams are technically still in the playoff race, but they have been eliminated from their division title. They are:
Miami Dolphins, 5-7
New York Jets, 3-9
Minnesota Vikings, 4-8
It isn't a fun time being on or being a fan of any of these teams.
