New update on Commanders QB Jayden Daniels not promising for Week 14

Lee Corso, the legendary former ESPN College Football Analyst, warned fans and other on-screen talent for decades that they need not jump to conclusions; it would be wiser to slow down in reaching the conclusions we can often formulate entirely too quickly.

So, it is with Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. Everyone assuming his return is next week against the Vikings needs to slow down. You see, on Monday, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn stated that Daniels has not yet been cleared for contact. Daniels is going to continue to practice, taking some reps, but we don't yet know how many.

Quinn also added there will likely not be a decision on Daniels' return for the Vikings until Friday. I mean, why would the Commanders do anything that their medical staff or coaches perceive as a risk? They are not 9-3, fighting for a playoff spot. Rather, given that they are 3-9, we need not naively dismiss the Commanders' record as having a little influence on this decision. Of course it is. What need is there to put Daniels out there if that left arm is still tender and susceptible to injury?

The Commanders, of course, would like to see Daniels get some games in down the stretch, but certainly, there is no need to rush this. If Daniels were not to play against the Vikings, that means there would still be a month of games (four) remaining on the schedule. Those games would be against NFC East rivals, the Eagles twice, the Cowboys, and the Giants once.

Meanwhile, let Marcus Mariota take the vast majority of the reps this week, allowing him to adequately prepare for the Vikings. Why have Daniels taking reps away from Marota, until you know he has been cleared for contact?
