Peoria Heights was trying to capture the title of its own tournament for the first time since 1993.
Other basketball winners on Monday included the U-High boys over Central Catholic, 79-76, in the Intercity Tournament. Canton, IVC, Eureka, Illini Bluffs and Heyworth won girls basketball games.
Meanwhile, four players from Central Catholic’s state runner-up volleyball team signed their college letters Monday. Josie Certa (Morehead State), Aubrey Fair (Southern Indiana), Rosie Krenz (Ferris State) and Addison Hoeniges (St. Xavier) were honored at a school ceremony.
