It's very difficult for a kicker to be Charlie Brown AND Lucy at the same time. But the Giants' veteran kicker did it.

Sometimes the football gods hand you a little gift. Nothing major, just something you've never seen before. Treylon Burks' one-handed grab on Sunday Night Football? That was nice, but familiar. That's not what I'm talking about.

A former Pro Bowl kicker running up to the ball and blasting the turf like a drunk golfer trying to hit a lob wedge? That, friends, is a present. A reward for our continued loyalty to a sport of sacrifice.

That's what the New York Giants dropped into our laps Monday night when Younghoe Koo lined up for a 46-yard field goal attempt. The official box score calls this play a 13-yard sack on punter/holder Jamie Gillan. Please believe me when I tell you this only tells five percent of an incredible story.

Koo ran up to the placed ball, stuck his plant foot in the ground and then... did the same with his kicking foot. He missed the ball by a solid six inches. This wasn't a mis-hit, because that would imply he touched the ball at all. If that football sued for battery, this clip would fully exonerate the veteran kicker.

To make matters worse, New England took advantage of the short field Koo's glorious brain fart created. Five plays later, Drake Maye kept his MVP campaign rolling with an absolutely gorgeous deep ball to rookie Kyle Williams.

That was no gift from the football gods. We've gotten used to absurd displays from Drake Maye. But we've never seen anything like Koo finding a way to be Lucy and Charlie Brown at the same time. And for that, I offer them my humblest praise.
