Dec. 1—GRAND FORKS — Eight UND football players were selected to the all-Missouri Valley Football Conference teams, which were released by the league Monday morning.
UND's selections on the first team include offensive lineman Seth Anderson, cornerback Antonio Bluiett, linebacker Malachi McNeal and edge Lance Rucker.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementUND's picks on the second team are offensive lineman Liam Becher, wide receiver B.J. Fleming, running back Sawner Seidl and edge Kaden Vig.
In addition, safety Zach Lewis, fullback Mason South and defensive back Jonnie Wiltshire were honorable mention.
Anderson, a fifth-year senior from Moorhead, has helped UND rank as the No. 16 rushing offense in the FCS at 199.4 yards per game.
Bluiett, who suffered a season-ending injury last month against North Dakota State, finished the year with three interceptions in 10 games. The junior from Buffalo, Minn., has 29 tackles and six pass break-ups.
McNeal, a senior from Waukegan, Ill., leads UND in tackles (84). McNeal, a captain, has six quarterback hurries and 6.0 tackles for loss.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRucker, a junior from Omaha, has 14.0 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. In UND's 31-6 win over Tennessee Tech last Saturday in the FCS Playoffs, Rucker had three strip sacks and six tackles.
Becher, a junior from Iowa City, has helped UND rank No. 16 in the FCS in scoring offense at 34.5 points per game.
Fleming, a first-year transfer from Northern Arizona, has 770 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. The Aledo, Texas, native sat out last Saturday's win over TTU with an injury.
Seidl, of Hugo, Minn., ranks No. 11 in the FCS in total touchdowns (16) and fifth in the MVFC in rushing yards (879). Seidl has had four 100-yard rushing efforts.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementVig, of Hallock, Minn., has 5.5 sacks and 36 tackles. He had a 63-yard touchdown return against Northern Iowa after stripping the quarterback and picking up the fumble.
The MVFC will release the MVFC All-Newcomer Team on Tuesday.
UND will play at No. 4 seed Tarleton State at noon Saturday in Stephenville, Texas, in the second round of the FCS Playoffs. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
