Stephen Curry was doing well this season health-wise until the latter stages of the Golden State Warriors’ Nov. 26 contest against the Houston Rockets.

The four-time NBA champion elected to put his body on the line to secure a charge against 22-year-old star Amen Thompson (which was later reversed) and suffered a right quad contusion in the process.

While it’s not surprising that Curry is slated for multiple games with his new injury, it doesn’t change the fact that the 37-year-old’s recent update is terrible news for Steve Kerr and the Warriors.

“He’s going to get reevaluated on Thursday,” ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reported Monday. “He’s not doing any on-court work… just getting rehab. Definitely not good.”

Injury updates are usually more encouraging when players are prepared to return to practice and work their way back into game shape.

Unfortunately, in Curry’s case, the remarkable three-point shooter is still in the rehab phase, likely causing Kerr’s club to spend a significant period without their go-to playmaker.

It doesn’t help that the Dubs have a somewhat challenging schedule ahead, as the seven-time NBA champions will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves in their next five games.

Assets such as Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody must step up their play if the Dubs want to make up for Curry’s noticeable absence.
