Georgia Tech never backed off Kealan Jones, even after he committed to Georgia. The Yellow Jackets gave him space, stayed in steady contact, and when Jones began engaging more, the momentum quietly shifted. After multiple visits to Atlanta this fall, including three game-day trips and a private midweek stop, the in-state defensive back has flipped his commitment from Georgia to Georgia Tech.

“This was a really hard decision, because there are pros and cons for each school, especially with both being in-state,” Jones told Rivals. “Georgia Tech has always been there. They recruited me from the beginning, but I wasn’t always listening. It took some time to really think about it, and over time, it grew on me. I made the decision recently.”

Consistency from the Yellow Jackets played a major role. The relationships strengthened, the comfort level increased, and the fit became clearer as the season progressed.

“Things really picked up this season. Georgia Tech never stopped wanting me. They made me feel wanted. Coach Peoples checked in all the time and we built a great relationship. When I started looking deeper at the program, things just grew on me.

“I see a chance to play early, help the program, and really do good things at an in-state school.”

Jones, a three-star safety out of Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry, is stepping into a program trending sharply upward. Brent Key led Georgia Tech to a 9–3 season, and Jones believes even bigger strides are coming.

“There’s a lot of positivity around the program,” he said. “They’re going up. The coaches are there, and now they’re getting the recruits. The program is on the rise.”
