The Washington Commanders took on the Denver Broncos in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football.

The Broncos were a heavy favorite entering the contest, but the Marcus Mariota-led Commanders were able to give them a game. Thanks to a late drive that resulted in a field goal, the game went to overtime tied at 20.

The Broncos scored a touchdown on their first drive in overtime, but the Commanders were able to respond with a score of their own. The person who caught that touchdown in overtime? None other than Terry McLaurin, who made his return in Week 13 after missing the last month of action.

On the night, McLaurin caught seven passes for 96 yards and one score. The Broncos boast one of the toughest pass defenses in the league, and arguably the league's best cover corner in Patrick Surtain II.

McLaurin was targeted eight times while Surtain was on him, and the receiver caught three of those. One of those three catches on Surtain was the touchdown in overtime. Prior to that, Surtain had not allowed a touchdown on his last 507 coverage snaps dating back to Week 13 of 2024.

Being the first person to score on Surtain in a full year is an impressive feat, especially coming off an injury.

The offense just has a different level to it when McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are both available. Unfortunately, McLaurin has only played in six games this year. The veteran has 20 catches for 299 yards and two scores so far on the season.

The Commanders put up 419 total yards of offense, and Mariota threw for a season-high 294 yards in Week 13, but it still wasn't enough to upset the Broncos. Now, the Commanders will head into Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, and the hope is that Jayden Daniels can return soon.
