Michigan State football's highest-ranked commitment in the 2026 class has provided a notable update on his recruitment and where the Spartans stand ahead of early signing day this week.
Spartans commitment and four-star wide receiver Samson Gash will reportedly wait until February to sign with a college, according to 247Sports recruiting insider Allen Trieu. The early signing period will open on Wednesday, but players have the ability to hold off until February to sign should they need more time to evaluate their recruitment situation -- that is exactly what Gash will do.
Gash is a four-star wide receiver prospect, and currently ranked as the Spartans' top commitment in the 2026 class. He ranks as the No. 50 wide receiver in the class and No. 5 player from Michigan in 247Sports' rankings.

The news of Gash holding off on signing until February may at first glance seem like a bad thing, but it actually is a positive development for the Spartans. There was fear that Gash was nearing a flip to Alabama after visiting there this fall, and with a coaching change occurring at Michigan State, it seemed like a near lock that a flip was coming. But, now, the new Michigan State coaching staff will have their opportunity to convince Gash to remain committed to the Spartans over the next few months. Whether or not he remains committed is still to be determined, but this is at least a good sign for Michigan State.
