The results from those various tournaments offered some helpful clues on who some of the best teams in the country are about a month into the 2025-26 season.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe loaded Players Era Festival, which included eight ranked squads in its 18-team field, ended with No. 6 Michigan rolling its way to a championship, winning its three games in the event by a combined 110 points. That blistering run was capped off by a 101-61 drubbing of No. 10 Gonzaga in the title game.

Elsewhere, Southern California won an unusually watered-down Maui Invitational, defeating Arizona State 88-75 in the title game to improve to 7-0 on the season. No. 23 Vanderbilt had little trouble winning a similarly weak Battle 4 Atlantis, beating Saint Mary's 96-71 in the championship game.
There were several notable results away from the MTEs, including No. 7 UConn's 74-61 victory against No. 14 Illinois in Madison Square Garden in New York and No. 4 Duke's 80-71 win against No. 21 Arkansas in Chicago.
