After a lot of talk and negotiations, it appears that a highly anticipated showdown between Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson has finally gotten over the line.
The bout has been set for January 31 in New York, headlining The Ring 6 event. The show will be promoted by Matchroom Boxing and broadcast live on DAZN. In this fight Stevenson will be moving up to 140 lbs to challenge Lopez for his WBO strap.

We are looking forward to returning to New York in January and producing another big world title fight that fans have been waiting for,” said Turki Alalshikh.
Stevenson, 28, is most recently coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over William Zepeda this past July and says he’s looking forward to this next fight against Lopez.
“I have never shied away from a challenge and always chased the biggest fights in the sport because I know I am one of the best boxers in the world,” Stevenson said. “Teofimo Lopez will learn that firsthand on January 31 when I take his belt and show him that there are levels to this game. New York, get ready for a spectacular performance as I take over a fourth straight weight division.”
Lopez, 28, is also coming off a clean and clear points win over Arnold Barboza last May. He says he’ll be coming to add the first blemish to Stevenson’s professional record.
