The late Monte Kiffin was with the Buccaneers for 13 seasons from 1996 to 2008. During that stretch, he helped lead one of the top defenses in the NFL, including an all-time one that helped the team win Super Bowl XXXVII. While most coaches have big coaching trees, Kiffin has just one branch that has become the center of the coaching world in recent years.
His son, Lane Kiffin, coached in the NFL for one full season before being fired the next year by the then-Oakland Raiders. Since that time, he has become one of the better coaches in the college ranks, finding success at USC, FAU, and Ole Miss. It is the latter job that has made headlines on Sunday when he announced he was leaving Ole Miss after leading them to an 11-1 season and a college football playoff birth, and heading to SEC-rival, LSU.

The decision was made with a lot of prayer and insight from former coaches he was under in his career. One of those was the current Las Vegas Raiders coach, Pete Carroll, who was the head coach of USC while Kiffin was the offensive coordinator. ESPN's Marty Smith shared that Carroll told him that when the late-Monte Kiffin passed away earlier this year, he would always be there for his son. Now, the son of the former Bucs defensive coordinator is heading to a new destination to add another stop on his long road of places he has coached, similar to his former Buccaneer father.
