Netflix releases enough new shows every year that it’s easy for some to slip under the radar, but one that didn’t go unnoticed last year was A Man on the Inside. Starring Ted Danson, the series follows Charles, a retired man who answers a mysterious call one day that lands him the job of a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home. The show earned critical acclaim and even a swift Season 2 renewal, and all episodes of the second season are now streaming on the platform. However, the question on everyone’s mind: is A Man on the Inside Season 2 as good as Season 1?
A Man on the Inside Season 1 earned a Certified Fresh 96% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes from over 50 reviews, so the sample size was certainly large enough to be taken seriously. Enough reviews for A Man on the Inside Season 2 have come out that it has earned a 93% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This is slightly below the 96% of Season 1, but it’s still strong enough to be considered a worthy follow-up of its preceding season. Similar to Season 1, there are eight episodes in A Man on the Inside Season 2.
In addition to Ted Danson in the titular role of Charles, A Man on the Inside also stars Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Emily, Lilah Richcreek Estrada as Julie, Stephanie Beatriz as Didi, Eugene Cordero as Joel, Sally Struthers as Virginia, and more. The show was written and created for television by Michael Schur, and it draws comparisons to the popular series Psych, which ran from 2006 to 2014 on USA. Both shows have elements of mystery and comedy, and they each know when to lean into them at the right time.
What Else Is Streaming on Netflix Right Now?
The most popular show on Netflix right now is The Beast in Me, and it’s trailed by the 100% Rotten Tomatoes hit, Last Samurai Standing. Look for A Man on the Inside Season 2 to climb the streaming charts in the coming days. Over on the movie side of things, Anya Taylor-Joy’s critically acclaimed box office flop, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is finding a second life on streaming. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has also been a streaming juggernaut since its premiere two weeks ago.
Check out A Man on the Inside Season 2 on Netflix now and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show.
