Arguably the Spartans' most important commitment in the 2026 class has announced he will sign with Michigan State on early signing day this week.
Kayd Coffman of Grand Rapids, Mich. announced on Monday morning that he is locked into Michigan State and will sign with the Spartans on Wednesday as part of the early signing period. This is extremely notable for the Spartans following the firing of head coach Jonathan Smith on Sunday.

Coffman has been committed to Michigan State since February. He holds notable offers from Cincinnati, Colorado, Duke, Iowa State, Ole Miss and Syracuse.
The firing of Smith on Sunday has resulted in numerous Michigan State commitments providing an update on their recruitment status, and Coffman's may be the most notable for the Spartans. Retaining his commitment is big news for Michigan State.
