Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for violating his three-year probation, it is being reported.

The actor, who played Brad Taylor in the ’90s sitcom as a child, has a previous domestic violence conviction, and was arrested alongside girlfriend Johnnie Faye Cartwright in Oregon on Saturday (November 29).

According to TMZ, he was denied bail and will remain in jail until December 3. Cartwright faces charges including DUII, three counts of reckless endangering and attempted first-degree assault, and is expected to be arraigned today (Monday December 1).

Bryan’s probation doesn’t expire until October 2026, having been imposed in 2023, with his legal troubles beginning five years ago when he was involved in a drunken dispute with Cartwright. After facing multiple charges, he pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault and was sentenced to the probation.

He has since been arrested multiple times, including for DUII in Oklahoma and for allegedly assaulting and strangling Cartwright in South Carolina.

Bryan recently had a five-year restraining order imposed against him by a woman after he allegedly punched and threatened to kill her in July.

The actor recently told TMZ that he “deeply” regrets the pain he caused, adding that “domestic violence in any form is unacceptable”.

“The truth is, I’ve struggled with the lasting effects of early fame, addiction, and poor decision-making, which have hurt people I care about and led to repeated legal issues, including DUIs and past domestic incidents,” he said. “This latest situation, involving a restraining order and serious accusations, has been a painful wake-up call.”

He added: “Being labeled a ‘bad dad’ cuts deep because my children are my world, and I know I’ve fallen short. Fame as a child actor left scars — being thrust into the spotlight at nine years old brought pressures I wasn’t equipped to handle — but that’s no justification for my choices as an adult.”
